Text Box: Outdoor Living Areas… Bringing the Inside Out
Text Box: My goal here is to spur interest in gardening, landscape design, and outdoor living. I hope that you can find something interesting in every issue, and will pass this along to your friends. Text Box: It is good to see that many of our Metroplex commercial properties are starting to get on board with low maintenance and low water use landscaping. This saves us all money and water. Hopefully you had the pleasure of enjoying a journey down the George Bush Turnpike (190) this Fall. Now that the plants have been in for a couple of years, they are really starting to shine. Many of you have sent me emails asking what plants they have used in this project, so I decided to feature this project for what I hope make a repeating feature story in each issue.
Text Box: Not to be trendy here, but outdoor living and kitchen areas are all the rage these days. Outdoor fireplaces, fans, misters, full outdoor kitchens, flat screen TVs, wet bars, smokers, fryers, and of course stainless steel grills, make up the most Text Box: common elements requested today. Some of these structures are connected to the home while others are free standing. No matter which you choose they are both a great way to add comfort to your outdoor experience. With proper Text Box: planning these structures can be enjoyable year round in Texas, both in the heat and the cold.

Text Box: A dry riverbed may be either functional, solving a drainage issue in a low area, or purely aesthetic, adding a low maintenance contrast to mulch and plants.
